Struktur
Das /ecm Studienprogramm umfasst 120 ECTS-Punkte. Berufsbegleitend angelegt, findet es in 4 Semestern und in insgesamt 22 Modulen von Oktober 2026 bis Juni 2028 statt und bietet zwei verschiedene Wege:
a/ ein außerordentlicher Masterstudiengang mit einer Masterthese und einem Abschluss mit der akademischen Bezeichnung „Master of Arts (Continuing Education)“ – abgekürzt MA (CE);
b/ einen Universitätslehrgang mit einem praxisbasierten Rechercheprojekt und einem
Abschluss mit der akademischen Bezeichnung „Academic Curator“.
Beide Angebote (a/ und b/) finden zeitgleich als ein gemeinsames Lehrangebot statt. Die Unterschiede liegen in den Zulassungsvoraussetzungen und der damit verbundenen Form der akademischen Abschlussarbeit.
Zulassungsvoraussetzungen
Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift;
erfolgreiche Teilnahme am eintägigen Aufnahmeseminar; verbindliche Anmeldung für den gesamten Lehrgang;
sowie für
a/ den außerordentlichen Masterstudiengang ein fachnahes Bachelorstudium mit mind. 180 ECTS-Punkten und praxisrelevanter Erfahrung;
b/ den Universitätslehrgang mehrjährige einschlägige Berufserfahrung oder ein abgeschlossenes Bachelorstudium.
Zulassungsverfahren
1. Einreichung der Bewerbung (Formular mit den Beilagen: Lebenslauf, Motivationsschreiben mit Spezifikation des gewünschten Wegs (a/ oder b/), Zeugnisse in Kopie, schriftliche Anmeldung zum Aufnahmeseminar) per Mail an ecm@uni-ak.ac.at.
2. Absolvierung des eintägigen Aufnahmeseminars (Zielsetzung: Durch das Lösen verschiedener lehrgangsrelevanter Aufgaben – allein und in Kleingruppen – sollen Motivation, Schlüsselqualifikationen sowie Berufsperspektiven der Bewerber:innen näher ermittelt werden, um eine Grundlage für die Entscheidung zur Aufnahme zu erhalten. Im Aufnahmeseminar können Bewerber:innen Einblicke in Inhalte und Methoden des Lehrgangs gewinnen und ihre Entscheidung für die Teilnahme überprüfen.)
Abschlussvoraussetzungen
Aktive Teilnahme an allen Lehrgangsveranstaltungen (max. Fehlzeit 15 Lehreinheiten pro Semester);
schriftliche Semesterarbeit am Ende des ersten Semesters; Konzeption, Organisation, Umsetzung und Dokumentation des /ecm-Projekts am Ende des zweiten Semesters;
sowie für
a/ den außerordentlichen Masterstudiengang das Verfassen und die Präsentation einer positiv beurteilten Masterthese;
b/ den Universitätslehrgang die Konzeption und Präsentation eines positiv beurteilten praxisbasierten Rechercheprojekts.
Kosten und Zahlungsmodalitäten
Die Teilnahmegebühr beträgt EUR 14.000,– (umsatzsteuerfrei, exkl. ÖH-Beitrag, Reise- und Aufenthaltskosten). Die Teilnahmegebühr kann nach Vereinbarung in Raten entrichtet werden.
Die Aufnahmeseminargebühr beträgt EUR 150,– und wird bei Aufnahme gegenverrechnet.

Structure
The /ecm study program comprises 120 ECTS points. Designed to be pursued alongside professional commitments, it takes place over 4 semesters and includes a total of 22 modules, running from October 2026 to June 2028. The program offers two different paths:
a/ an associate Master's degree program with the requirement to complete a Master's thesis, graduating with the academic title "Master of Arts (Continuing Education)" – abbreviated “MA (CE)”;
b/ a university course with the requirement to complete a practice-based research project, graduating with the academic title "Academic Curator."
Both paths (a/ and b/) are conducted simultaneously as a joint program. Noteworthy distinctions exist in the admission requirements and the nature of the academic thesis for each pathway.
Admission requirements
German and English language skills in both written and spoken form;
successful participation in the one-day admission seminar; mandatory enrollment for the entire course;
as well as
a/ the associate Master's degree program requires a subject-related Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS points and practical experience in the field;
b/ the university course requires several years of relevant professional experience or a completed Bachelor's degree.
Admission procedure
1. Submission of the application (official form with the following attachments: CV, motivational letter specifying the desired path (a/ or b/), copies of certificates, and written registration for the admission seminar) via mail to ecm@uni-ak.ac.at.
2. Completion of the one-day admission seminar (objective: By solving various course-related tasks – individually and in small groups – motivation, key qualifications and career perspectives of the applicants are closely examined to establish a basis for the decision on admission. During the admission seminar, applicants can gain insights into the content and methods of the course and assess their decision to participate.)
Graduation requirements
Active participation in all course events (maximum absence of 15 teaching units per semester);
a written paper at the end of the first semester;
the conception, organization, implementation and documentation of the /ecm project at the end of the second semester;
as well as for
a/ the associate Master's degree program, the writing and presentation of a positively evaluated Master's thesis;
b/ the university course, the conception and presentation of a positively evaluated practice-based research project.
Costs and payment methods
The tuition fee is EUR 14.000,- (VAT exempt, excluding the ÖH contribution, travel, and accommodation costs). The participation fee can be paid in instalments by mutual agreement.
The admission seminar fee is EUR 150,- and will be offset upon acceptance.
